And here's my reward. Improved the rest of my potato curry with some fresh chard from the balcony. It's a lot tastier than it looks.

Dug up the dead soil, got some tree roots out, and made a proper garden bed amidst the assorted wildflowers in the back of the garden, moved the balcony-grown potatoes there, created a narrow pathway to the beds so I won't catch ticks or bruise my feet as much. A good day.

Soviet Propaganda Poster.

Nothing has changed. It was never any other way. Cops have been the same since the beginning.

hello fellow white people. it's easy to post "fuck the police" and say "i would never call the police" and listen to millions of dead cops and think 1312 thoughts but! have you considered what you would do INSTEAD of calling the fash? no? how about a lil homework:

Picture of fungal mycorrhizae in soil. When you see a mushroom or any fungus above ground, that is analogous to its fruit. It is not the whole life form, or even most of it. Most of the organism lives underground and often connects with the roots of plants to share resources. Fungi are nature's great organizers.

About the "sponge cities" in China. The scheme means that Wuhan and other areas in the scheme will have 20% of their urban land include "sponge features" (such as rain gardens and wetlands) by 2020 with an aim of retaining 70% of storm and flood water.

the weird part about living out of a vehicle is you always have to think about where you are. you’re never at a neutral location where you can fully relax

i wish cities had like, basically a parking lot with wifi, each space with it’s own power outlet, and somewhere on the premises is a restroom/shower. basically a motel minus the rooms. it would be so much fun to live in a van and just cruise wherever you felt the impulse to go, stopping in one of those lots whenever you felt like staying put

@souvlaki you can also cut the adult stems, pile them up to let them dry and then already dry crush them to make a mulching. Beware to not crush live plants since they can spread up from tiny fragments. It's playing a dangerous game but i'm into it 😝

@souvlaki if it's in your garden you can eat it (just like rubarbe). young sproots are actually quite good as marmelade. Don't collect it allongside roads because it catchs all the pollution from cars.

some people would rather be baron of a wasteland than citizen of a utopia

I'm a bit proud of this set-up I developed to upcycle plastic juice bottles (juice is one of the few beverages that are sold without a deposit around here). The upper containers are drip-watered from the bottles above, and have holes in the bottom so that the ones beneath them will catch the excess water. It worked very well last year, so I just built another one. It's a very space-effective and low-maintenance solution for plants that don't need a lot of soil to grow.
